Job Description

Responsible for field, transportation, employee safety compliance. Supports the on-going relationship with contractors and vendors.

1. Perform accident/incident/near miss investigations, determine root cause and make recommendations to Operations
2. Adhere to related federal and provincial requirements, as well as submit all government reporting (LAB reports, EAHOR, etc.)
3. Perform Hazmat incident/accident investigations and ensure government related reporting is completed
4. Establish goals and objectives following facility inspection audits, as well as the semi-annual service centre facility inspections.
5. Act as local contractor relations liaison by maintaining relationships with contractors
6. Develop and maintain safety regulations as outlined by provincial and federal law for the transportation and trucking industry
7. Implement company safety policies and procedures to evaluate and develop sustainable action plans.
8. Working with leadership, administer and evaluate Safety audit procedures, provide improvement plans, program suggestions and implement changes to address/resolve identified trends and ensure OHSA and Regulatory compliance
9. Assist vendors at all levels to ensure compliance and educational guidelines are within scope of FXFC and the governing body’s regulatory requirements
10. Attend all H&S Committee meetings each month (in person or via conference call), review meeting minutes for compliance and ensure all raised issues are addressed and closed in a timely manner
11. Participate actively in local, Provincial & National organizations and represent FXFC in a professional manner (TDC, NTDC, NAIC, CVSA)
12. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
13. Perform other duties as required

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and four (4) years directly related work experience
• Five (5) years transportation fleet safety and/or occupational health and safety, required
• Experience and understanding of accepted loss prevention/safety and risk management practices
• Working knowledge of Department of Transportation, CNESST, required; OHSA and OSHA, preferred
• Occupational Health & Safety certification, (i.e., N.A.T.M.I., CDS, CSS) preferred
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities, including excellent attention to detail
• Excellent computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Internet and Outlook)
• Excellent verbal written, interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as strong ability to persuade, collaborate, and partner with all levels within the organization

• Overnight travel required
• Hours may vary due to operational needs
